Hello, my dear friends!
I just dropped in to give you another update on my oh-so fascinating and glamorous life. (HA!)
My baby is 22 weeks old today. I can't believe it. Where does the time go? I was looking at pictures of him from way back when we brought him home and I got really nostalgic. He was so little. He's not so little anymore.
I went back and read all of our posts from when we started this blog. I forgot that we started it to track our workout and diet habits. We were so funny. I'd give anything to look like that again!
Babies ruin your body, but enhance your life. So, there you go!
I started working out again. I really need to stop being a lazy bum. I have already made a lot of progress. I am hoping to lose a few pounds before our trip to Texas/my birthday. I hope to succeed!
Last Friday was Chris' birthday. We celebrated with a barbecue. Is there anything better than a summer barbecue? Really. The food, the weather---just so great. I am craving a cheeseburger like no other. Of course, I can't eat it because I'm trying to be good.
Danielle--The pictures you posted of floating the river looked like so much fun! I don't think we ever have floated together, but we do have lots of memories of rivers and boys from that summer!! Are you in school right now? How's your relationship going? :)
Hailey--Do you ever see all of the people we know on Facebook who are pregnant/just now having their babies and get a little baby crazy all over again? I don't know why, but every time I see a pregnant girl I have an insane desire to do it again...Sometimes I miss feeling the kicks and movement. How many do you think you'll have? How long are you waiting between babies?
It's a rainy, gloomy day here in Idaho. I am pretty bummed because it has been super nice lately. I finally wore Capri's today...and the weather sucks. Go figure.
Anyway, we're all alive and well over here. I hope you can all say the same!
Miss you like crazy!! We really need to work out a get together for this summer. I need it!
Bergen
P.S. Here is a picture of my adorable baby...because who doesn't love a picture of an adorable baby??!
Hello my pretties!!!
I am enjoying reading your guys' posts, I've missed you both so much! The blog isn't cutting it for me though...we need to hang out...ASAP!
Next weekend (the weekend of the 28th) my dad's side of the family is having a shindig in Pocatello. So I'm thinking of going up a few days earlier to hang out with my mom...maybe we could do a lunch or something. And Danielle you should get work off and come with me so we can car pool because Michael can't come and he is nervous about me driving the whole way with Talon by myself. So, that's that.
Alright, now about me...
I'm home alone right now (I know, my baby isn't here!) because I am sick. I didn't want to get Talon sick so Michael's parents came and got him this afternoon. Talon has only been gone for three hours now and I miss him like crazy but I was really sad when he was here because I just wanted to cuddle and kiss him but he really can't get sick right now so I tied a blanket around my face and kept my distance as much as possible:( poor little guy. So I'm currently chilling on my couch chowing down on cough drops..AWESOME!
My day to day life seems about the same every day. I wake up in the middle of the night a few times (lately it's just been once) to feed Talon and change him and coax him back to sleep. Then we wake up in the morning and I am still exhausted so I feed and change him and try to get him to sleep again, haha sometimes he is really cooperative and sometimes he just wants to play. He is 11 weeks tomorrow and he's huge!! I totally understand you Berg about wanting that precious tiny guy you brought home from the hospital, but I love watching Talon grow. He needs a baby sister to be his friend...Michael isn't a huge fan of that idea right now lol. Anyway, back to my day, so when we finally wake up we cuddle, watch TV, do tummy time, play with toys and take a million pictures. My day is so busy I don't have time for myself but it doesn't seem that way when I put it in writing...oh well. Then Michael comes home around 5:30 or 6:00 and we eat, watch TV, and do basically the same things I've been doing all day. Sometimes when Michael gets home I just want to hand Talon off right away and go do my own thing because I feel like I have been working really hard but then I have to remember that Michael actually has been working all day. We still do date nights. It's nice that his parents live so close, we usually take Talon over there and go out for a bit on the weekends. Last weekend we went to Boondocks, the one before that I think we went to dinner and then browsed a store (nothing too crazy!) and eventually I want Michael to take me to Lagoon. And we still do some fun things with Talon. A few weeks ago when there was supposed to be an awesome meteor shower we packed the baby up in the middle of the night and drove up the mountain. It was too cloudy to see any stars, but we saw some deer at least.
I've been going to the parade of homes with Michael's parents and sister this past week. Talon doesn't like it too much because he has to get in and out of his car seat but he behaved really well and was exhausted and a little fussy at the end of the day but then slept like an angel. These houses in the parade of homes are HUGE! They had basketball courts, gyms, saunas, arcades, theaters, children's play town, rock climbing walls, and just about everything you can imagine putting in a home. Then of course they had pools in the back yard and bedrooms and standard house things but they were all way big. There was a closet bigger than my living room! And a bathroom as big as my kitchen! I was really jealous but then thought that it would suck to clean, but then thought I would hire someone to clean it, but then my mom said someone could be hiding in your house and it's so big you would never know...and she's right! I could get lost in there, my kids could hide and it'd be ridiculously hard to find them, and then strangers could be camping out in there and I'd never know!! So I don't want a mansion...I just want some of the things, like a walk in shower, a huge closet, a pool, and good sized rooms. Plus I'm going to need nice, modern furniture. This is all when I get rich of course. But I don't have a job so that may never happen.
Michael and I have talked about me going back to work seeing as I said I could go back when Talon is three months old and he is almost there. But Michael said that we are doing okay financially and that he isn't a big fan of the idea of someone else raising our baby and I am so excited! I would really like to bring in an income, but for right now I am staying home with my baby cakes.
Haha Berg you thought you were rambling!!
Ok, I'll wrap this up. I miss you two and we need to get together asap. Love you both. Be good!
Hailey
Hello my beautiful ladies!
Berg don't think you're rambling. Well I guess you are. But I enjoyed reading it! Since we don't get to talk anymore. Remember the summer we spent every day together? That was only a couple years ago. Seems like so much longer. We both went tanning for the first time! I think that's the summer you met Chris too. Oh the memories.
Anyway I don't have much time, I'm just about to leave work. But I thought I'd post to let you guys know I'm reading and so happy we're doing this!
I'm actually headed up to Logan for Josh's best friend's birthday weekend. We're going camping at Maple Grove hot springs and I'M SO EXCITED! I've been looking forward to this for months!
In light of my excitement I'm going to let you know I'm posting pictures of my outdoor adventures when I get back! I think photos would spice up this blog a lot and I want to see your pretty faces as well as the boys!
Okay. I love you, miss you. You're both so fantastic and I'm so happy for your cute new families.
As promised... I'll bring photos (if not for your enjoyment, then for mine.)
-Danielle
It's Friday the 13th. Hopefully, we all get through the day without any serious incidents! :)
In honor of our new resolve to keep this blog going, I though I'd write up another post. Since I have already expressed my sentiments regarding how much I miss you both, I guess I'll just write a little update about me and my little family.
Even if you're not all that interested in my life and its various activities, a post is a post!
Where to start? Well, my sweet baby boy is 20 weeks old today. That seems so old to me. Time goes by much more quickly when you're watching a little one grow. Every day and every week is so important to their development. They learn new things every day, and they grow up so fast. I look back at photos we took just a few weeks ago, and he already looks so much older.
He's rolling over, sitting up (with assistance occasionally), teething and eating solid food. I guess I always knew he would hit these milestones. "Miles"tones, we like to call them. We think we're so funny. But like I said, we always knew he would, but I had it in my mind that they were off in the distant future. But they're here. And it makes me a little sad. I want my sweet, tiny, precious baby that I brought home from the hospital. But he's so tall, and big and is just going to keep growing.
Being a mom is so great. There are no words to describe just how wonderful it is. Of course, it's not all fun and games. There are bad days. There are days when I feel inadequate. There are nights when I am so exhausted from getting up to feed him, that I don't think I can make it through the next day. But then he smiles at me, or laughs, or falls asleep sweetly on my chest, and I can't help but think it's all worth it.
It's the most rewarding, yet demanding position you could have. It's a little frightening to be the sole person that someone depends on. It's a huge responsibility. But I love it. I love him. I love being his mom.
There are a lot of things that having a baby changes. I work from home now, which is so great. It's a huge blessing that my work allowed me to do this. I get the best of both words--being a mom and bringing in some income. We don't go out as much, eat out as much or have any time to just be a couple anymore. But now we're a family, and I think that is so much better than just being a couple. We don't get any sleep anymore. Miles was sleeping through the night wonderfully until he started teething. Boy is that fun. My days start early and end late. Sometimes I am so exhausted, I'm not sure I can go another minute without sleeping, but it always works out.
I love seeing Chris as a dad. I never thought I could love my husband more. There's something about a man and a baby that is so adorable. Sexy even. (TMI? Eh...who cares!) I think Miles is the spitting image of Chris, and he thinks he looks just like me. I guess it depends on who is next to, really.
Day to day, my life is pretty boring. It's vigorously structured around Miles' wants and needs. The only time I get to myself anymore is when I shower--and that is usually a whopping 5 minutes of frantic scrubbing and shaving (if I'm lucky!) before getting out and taking care of him again!
We're planning a trip to Texas to see Chris' dad's family at the end of August. I am so nervous about flying with a baby. I'm nervous about other people and their reaction to flying with a baby, more than I am about actually flying with a baby. Miles is such a good baby...I'm not worried about him. People are rude and mean though, and I don't want to deal with that crap. I'm not super nice myself, so if someone says anything, it won't end well!
Other than that, we are just hanging out this summer. I'd really love to get out more. We are homebodies. I rarely leave my house. I'd like to take more walks and get a tan. Bikinis are out for me since having a baby...which is probably a good thing. No one wants to see this mess! I would really love to get involved with one of those Mommy and Me classes, to meet some more mom's with babies. The couple we usually hang out with are expecting their first baby in December, but it's still weird to bring a baby along to hang out with them.
I wish we lived closer so that I had friends to do things with! I'd love another mom and baby duo to hang out with! (Hailey!) And Miles needs to meet his other Aunts! (Danielle!)
Well, this turned out to be longer than I anticipated. Sorry--it's a lot of mom ramble. I'll try to keep my posts shorter and less baby next time. Although, that is my life lately!
Hope you are all doing well. I really hope we can stick to our guns and get this blog going again.
Much love---Bergen
Thanks for starting this again Berg! I am totally down for plans this summer. I really like Hailey's ideas a lot! I'm so excited to meet my two new nephews (that's what I call them. I assumed the role as an aunt... hope you're okay with that!) Honestly, I feel bad that I haven't met them already. Life has been CRAZY! But I can't imagine how crazy it's been for the both of you.
To answer your question Berg — yes it is kind of weird to have friends with babies. Not a bad weird, a good weird. Just different. It's just amazing how fast things have changed. But I hope you are both extremely happy with your lives. I know you are! How could you not be with an adorable little boy to take care of?
Things are definitely different for me right now. In the past month I've graduated from college, turned 23 and started a new job in Salt Lake City. Who knew?! I actually really like it here, other than the fact that Josh is in Logan. But I've only been here for a week, so maybe I'm still in that vacationing phase.
I go to work and I'm still amazed at the job I was awarded for the summer. I've been reading the Salt Lake Tribune for the past year and have grown to admire several of the reporters. And now I'm working with them! I get to ask them questions and sit next to them. I'm kind of star struck sometimes. But I try to hold it all together and act very professional so they'll take me seriously instead of thinking of me as some bright-eyed college graduate who doesn't know her way around the city (that statement is quite true).
My boyfriend is awesome! I'll be honest, it was nice being single for a couple years. I partied a lot, met a lot of people and learned a lot about myself and what I want in a guy. Josh is pretty reserved and shy at first. It takes him a while to open up. But he makes me laugh all the time! And he's very patient with me (that's an important trait). Oh and he's cute!!! :)
As far as dates that work good for me, it's kind of hard to tell. The best times are going to be on the weekends, but sometimes I have to work those too and I get some weekdays off instead. It's difficult with journalism because news doesn't always happen Monday through Friday from 8 to 5 p.m. Haha, but I can definitely make something work!
I love you ladies and I would jump at the chance to spend some time with you! Let's make this work!
Berg I am so glad you blogged!! It has seriously been TOO long since we have all talked. I miss you both so much. I want you guys to meet my baby, he is so cute and needs to know my best friends! And Berg I need to meet your adorable little guy (and I totally understand the need for girl talk that isn't about poop or when the last time you got to sleep was).
Danielle I am so excited that you are moving to SLC. We need to hang out all the time! And we need to coordinate a trip to Idaho so we can hang with Berg and you need to bring the man so that we can go on a triple date!!!
All is well here. I am loving being a mom. Not going to lie, I had a major break down about two weeks after little man was born but I am doing a lot better. I do get really lonely though because all I do every day is sit at home. While Michael is at work all I do is pretend that little man enjoys my company lol.
I really want to go to Lagoon. Soooo, Berg, leave your lil guy with your padres, I'll leave mine at Michael's folks' house and Danielle you bring your man and we'll all go to Lagoon!!! Great sounds like a date. I am free ALL THE TIME so you two figure out dates and I'll be there.
Ok, let's not lose touch again ladies. Love you!!!
My goodness, it has been a long time since somebody posted. It might as well be me that gets the ball rolling again!
I miss you! I miss both of you tremendously. Summer is approaching and I would really like to plan some sort of get together with you both, if possible. Let's start throwing some dates around and see what works for everyone.
Hailey, I know you're busy with an adorable baby (who I want to meet!!) Danielle, I know you're busy with school and your man (who I am VERY excited to hear more about!!) But pretty please, lets get together. I need some good girl talk.
Being a mom is so rewarding...but I'd really like to talk about more than poop, work and sleep schedules...and I'd really like to do it with you!
How have you both been? I miss us. Where does the time go? I can't believe the last post here was me announcing my pregnancy. Sheesh. That seems so long ago!
Life goes on here. My world is run by an adorable baby boy, who puts a huge smile on my face and brings me immeasurable joy. Seriously, being a mom is completely wonderful, mostly crazy, but so rewarding. It's weird to think about. I know I have a son, and I know I am a mom, but it's weird to admit. Is it weird to have a friend that's a mom? It weirds me out a little bit. How many times can you say weird in one paragraph....
Fill me in on your lives! I miss my friends.
Love you! --Bergen
