Hello ladies!
Bergen brought it to my attention that she hasn't heard my birthing story and I wouldn't mine a refresher on hers, so Danielle, bare with us as we share!
It was just over seven months ago. I went into the doctor for my check up on Wednesday or Thursday (I am awful with dates), and shared with them that I was having some light cramping pains here and there, I'd experienced the "bloody show" and was having all sorts of fun discharge and nastiness. My nurse got really excited and said that my baby would be coming soon! But I was only dilated to about a one. My doctor was going out of town the following Monday so I was pretty determined to have Talon that weekend!! Haha just kidding, but basically that's what the plan was except that I wasn't due for another two weeks. That Friday, I was lounging around in bed when I got AWFUL cramps. I called to talk to my doctor to see what labor pains feel like. The receptionist said it sounded like I was in labor and she connected me with the nurse who told me to go to the hospital and check in. She said it sounded like I was having my baby!!!
So I was super excited. I called Michael three times and hung up each time as that was our way of letting him know that I was calling because I needed a ride to the hospital and it was serious. So then I explained what was going on and he left work early.
We drove to the hospital super excited and jittery and we counted the contractions and how far apart they were. We got to the hospital, checked in, and BAM! Contractions stopped. I was hooked up to fancy machinery to tell everyone when the contractions were happening and to measure their intensity. Pretty sure that in the hour I was there I had two contractions and the intensity was like a two. And I was only dilated to a one and a half. So that was embarrassing. So we left the hospital and Michael had to tell his boss that it was a false alarm. Super embarrassing.
So Michael's parents were coming to town to shop anyway so we all went to the mall. We shopped around the mall and Michael's dad and I picked out new cell phones and it took forever to get the plan and I was sooooooo grumpy. Then, walking around the mall was awful and I had to stop like every few minutes to contract and moan and groan to everyone how awful I felt. Then we went to dinner. We went to Texas Roadhouse because I was pregnant and always wanted steaks. So we're sitting in our booth and the waitress was like, "How far along are you?" Blah blah blah and then she asked if she could put her hand on my belly so I complied and she was like, "Holy cow, you're having contractions!" And I was like well duh! Haha so then Michael and I went home and went to bed. I didn't sleep like at all. I kept contracting and would squeeze his arm and moan and whine every time. He slept through it lol.
Saturday morning I could not take it anymore. I woke him up at eight and told him to take me to the hospital. He was all, "We were just there!" And so then I started doubting myself, but I still begged. Then he said I could go if I ate cereal first. So I sat on the couch, took a bite of cereal, and a contraction hit right then and I screamed and spit cereal everywhere! Then I started crying and begging to go to the hospital. So we get the bag and go back to the hospital. The second we park the car, the pain stops. Do you know how frustrating that is??!! But we walked around the doors for a bit and then I did finally get another contraction so we went inside.
The front nurse was the same from the previous night and I was like, "We're back!!" Haha. So I got all hooked up to everything again and this time was at dilated to a four. Woo progress! So they said I could stay and immediately I asked for the epidural. They hooked me up right away and it was magical.
ALWAYS GET AN EPIDURAL!!!!
Michael made the calls and my family headed to town. Doctor showed up and asked if I wanted the baby that day or if I wanted him the next day. I said that I definitely wanted him that day so doc broke my water. I asked if they could just cut him out and he said no. So then I waited. From nine in the morning until six at night. At five or so I was fully dilated but had to wait for the baby to come down a little more on his own. So basically all day I just laid there paralyzed and blissful.
My grandpa was there within a few hours and he's so silly he came in, said hi, and then went and waited in the car. A few more hours and my mom and them showed up. They got there and everyone was excited and in like half an hour it was six and my doctor came in and said we were ready to go! So everyone left to the waiting room and we pushed.
Pushing was hard. I felt like I had to poo and I was super nervous about doing it on the table but the nurses said that when they were checking my dilation they could tell that I was empty. So that was nice.
Anyway, pushing. They had called in the NICU team because Talon had Meconium which is basically poop in the placenta and it can be dangerous if the baby sucks it in. Also, he needed to be checked that his little kidneys were okay and such. So anyway, a nurse had my right leg, Michael had my left, and the doc was downstairs ready to catch. We counted to three and then Michael and the nurse pushed my legs and I pushed and about passed out. They told me to focus on pushing from my stomach and not my face haha, it's harder than it looks!!! So I pushed and lost a lot of oxygen and baby's blood pressure was being affected by it. I was given an oxygen mask and they had to use a vacuum to get him out super quick. Vacuum seems to be an inaccurate term, it should be called a suction cup thingy with a pulley stick, it's much more accurate. Anyway, Talon was born April 5, 2014 at 6:35pm weighing in at 6lbs 5oz and measuring at 18.5 inches.
After he was born they did the gross pushing juices out of me and such while Daddy got to give him his first bath. I was happier than I have ever been in my entire life.
The next day we still hadn't named him. So I asked him, "Is your name Texas Michael Tom?" and he didn't say anything. Then I asked, "Is your name Talon Michael Tom?" and he said, "Mmhmmm." Michael thinks I'm crazy but my mom heard it and I know that I had to name him that!
So that's my story.
Things to know Danielle: 1. Get an epidural. 2. Be prepared to feel like you have to poop while laying on the table because that's what it feels like when the baby is coming. 3. Afterwards, you will have to poop before they let you leave the hospital and it is super scary because you think if you push out poop that you will push out everything else too. 4. You will have to use a water bottle to clean yourself after pottying, ew. 5. You will get swollen and that's super weird, do not try to ride a bike right after having a baby, I sat on our spin bike and Michael had to pull me off haha it was awful. 6. Finally, your body is amazing. Getting pregnant changes your body but in the best way because it creates new life! However, it does have its limitations. After you have your baby you will feel like a million bucks and that you can do anything but you can't. When you feel like you need to get that pot down from the top shelf, do not jump onto the counter! Ha I had to learn that the hard way.
Babies are the best! Talon is the cutest, smartest, most wonderful little man in the whole world! Having him has changed the dynamic in my life, my marriage, my thoughts, my everything. It is an adjustment and sometimes I don't think that I can do it, but it is the absolute best blessing ever. I did have a really bad bout of postpartum depression and it got really bad for a bit. I didn't sleep for the first two weeks after he was born and that had a huge part to play in it too but it's not wrong to seek help. I have been in counseling ever since and Talon comes and makes the visits interesting haha.
Anyway, love you both! Miss you! Let's get together soon!!!

The fourth
Hey Ladies,
Berg, sorry I missed you this weekend. The IF fireworks were AMAZING! It was a lot of fun. My mom, Michael, Talon and I went with my Aunt and her kids and their kids. It was a lot of fun. Talon did so well. We wrapped his ears in a thick blanket and he did just fine. We were right at the river at a friend of my aunt's house and we were so close an ash fell on Talon. Poor little guy smelled like a firecracker but he was just fine, didn't even leave a mark.
Danielle, you keep making the front page!! I am so proud of you and happy for you!! You and Josh should do dinner with Michael and I soon. We can meet wherever. I am really needing girl time!
I feel like a bum at home but this weekend I felt great! I stayed awake through the days and played with my siblings. I miss my family so much. Rhonwen and Aiden are so sweet...most of the time. They are so spoiled. But they are my favorite little people. It was also good to see my pops and that fam. It was the first time Talon has met them.
ooh Kmart there is going out of business and everything is on great sale! Lots of fun, I love sales! But I just got hit with a ton of bills today and I am broke, no more fun shopping sprees.
Alright so my life is very uninteresting...I'm out of things to say, so tata for now.

Ear Infections and Mondays
Hi Friends!
I hope you all had a marvelous Independence Day weekend. Even if you didn't, I'm sure yours was much better than mine! Miles got an ear infection and has been miserable for the past 4 days. The peak of it was on the 4th of July, and although we tried to enjoy the holiday and its various festivities...a sick baby made us all sad.
We had a BBQ with friends and family, and Miles cried the entire time...the poor dear. He finally settled down and we went to the fireworks, but he was too tired to enjoy them. He loves loud noises and bright lights, so he was entertained for about 3 minutes and then cried more. We went home about 5 minutes into the display. That is the first time I haven't stayed for the entire thing. My poor baby. There's nothing worse than a sick baby. Especially when there is nothing you can do for them. It breaks my heart.
He is already feeling much better though. I am feeling pretty proud that he made it almost 6 months without getting sick. Even so, it's not like he caught something contagious! I am still proud of that. We are super careful about exposing him to people and places with germs!!
Today is Monday. I am blogging from work (shhh!) because I have already finished everything that I needed to do and it's only 10:00. Now I just have to wait until five rolls around. It always does, but man does it take forever.
I am feeling pretty grateful and blessed and lucky that I get to spend a majority of my time working from home. I get the best of both worlds because I still get to work, but I get to be a stay-at-home mom too. That is so important to me. As you know, I worked in a daycare for a few years while I was in school. While I completely understand that it is a necessary thing, and wonderful for those who need it, I really did not want to send my son to someone else for 8+ hours a day. It is so important to me that I raise my children. I am so glad that I get to. Currently I only work Mondays and Fridays in office and the rest I spend at home with my sweet little one. Grandma's take turns watching him in the mornings, and Chris only works half days, so all in all, he gets lots of love from his family, but spends almost all of his time with mom or dad at home. Which I love.
This blog has kind of been random and all over the place, but I took up about 3 minutes of the work day, so I'm counting it as a success.
I miss you both, and really hope that we can plan a day to get together. Really, we just need to set a day and do it. I am even up for a day trip, just to have lunch with you guys. I need some girl time!
Love you both. Hope you're doing amazing.--Bergen

Hump Day...!
Hello Lovely Ladies!
I'm so glad to see you're posting here! I love reading what you write. It's nice to catch up, even if it is in weekly blog posts.
Things here are pretty much the same as they were the last time I posted! Maybe the only difference is that it is SO much nicer here today. I am guessing high 70's. It has been lovely.
Of course, I can't be outside as much as I want because Miles has beautiful baby skin that would burn so quickly! Even with sunscreen and a hat, we only go out for 15-20 minutes. But I enjoy every second of it.
Hai--It's really easy to get in a slump when you take care of a baby all the time. There might not be a set routine...but you do the same things all the time. I remember when I didn't leave my house for a week and wore pajamas and no makeup. It was kind of nice--and it would have been all too easy to continue doing it. But I am still a pretty vain person. I want my husband to be proud of me. I don't want him to come home to a makeup-less, plump bum. So I changed. Haha.
I'm not sure what our plans are for this weekend. We usually have a BBQ with Chris' family and watch the fireworks in his hometown. Chris will never go to the IF ones because of all the traffic. I don't want to sit in my car for an hour with a sleepy baby. That would NOT be fun. I'd LOVE to see you, even for a few minutes, and see your cute baby! But I understand being busy! Boo family drama. Tell Michael, he'll just have to deal!! :)
Danielle--I'm glad you're enjoying your internship. The view looks pretty awesome! There's nothing better than doing what you love! It looks like you have a fabulous thing going with your man. I am so happy for you. I know exactly what you mean by not wanting to dwell on past relationships. I think back on mine and cringe. *shudder* I really want to meet him.
We should plan a trip to the zoo, or Lagoon or something and all meet up. That would be SO much fun!! We just need to set a date and plan on it. I am so game. It'd be easy for us to come to you, since you are both in Utah anyway!! Seriously...think about it. We just have to plan it out!!
I just got back from the doctor's again. They are running a bunch of tests since my blood pressure has been an issue since I had Miles. They took like 15 tubes of it, so I'm literally feeling drained. Hopefully this will figure something out. I'm tired of going in all the time. I just want to be done with it until I have my next baby!!
Well, I miss you both, and Miles just woke up, so I had better scram! Hope you both have an AWESOME Independence Day! Text me sometime! I'm always available via text! (Do I have both your current numbers??)
Love you, both!

I miss you people!
Danielle your pictures are great! It looks like you are having the time of your life! I was so glad to read that Josh makes you happy and treats you right, that's the best! And I miss your face and need friends so let's plan you coming down here soon and then maybe we'll take Talon to explore SLC :)
Bergen I am going to Idaho this weekend...I don't know if I'll have much time because Michael's family is having a drama crisis and he wants to come back Saturday evening so that's dumb and I have to split my time between two families anyway...what are you doing for the fourth though? I want to take Michael to see the fireworks in IF.
Anyway, not much new here. I miss you two like crazy. I have realized that I am in a slump again where all I want to do is sleep because I don't enjoy being awake and I need to get out of it so I'm working on that...and...I bought some Jamberry nail wraps and some of them have robots on them so that makes me happy...Michael took me on a date last week. His dad like the look of the food in the pic and Michael worked all day Monday so his family took me out again and we went to the same place haha.
I talked to Evan the other night for hours so that was nice. Oh we were talking about our youth and how different we were and he said that when we were little I used to always kick him in the balls hahaha then he told me about the time in PE that Danielle kicked him in the balls while playing soccer, hahahahaha that made me laugh a lot :)
Anywho I have to go to the doctor here in a bit so I have to get Talon ready.
Here are some pictures!

An update with photos!
HERRO! (that's how you say hello in Asian)
I really do love hearing about your lives! It's still so surreal to me that you both have babies... BABIES! But I'm so happy for both of you because you seem very happy with your lives.
Right now I'm sitting at my desk at The Salt Lake Tribune office, which is in an office building above the Gateway Mall. To answer your question, Berg — no school! I graduated in May and am doing an internship with the Trib this summer. It pays pretty good. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do when this ends in August though. I need to find a job obviously, but I'd really really love to stay in Utah. I know it sounds dumb, but I want to be close to Josh. I think he might consider moving to Salt Lake. It makes him pretty nervous though. He's really afraid of not being able to pay his bills, which is a good quality I guess! Anyway, I guess we'll see what happens.
Hailey, I'm sorry I haven't made it down yet! I was really poor for the first few weeks, but now I have money! Which means now I have gas money to drive to Provo. I'm going to Logan this weekend, but next weekend I don't have any plans yet. Josh will probably come down, but I could bring him!
My relationship is pretty good. I just hate distance. You would think Salt Lake to Logan isn't that bad. And it isn't. Especially compared to the other distance relationships I did. Yuck... you know I HATE thinking about my previous relationships. They just make me feel kind of gross and stupid. But I did learn a lot from them! At least, I like to think so. Anyway back to Josh. He's really awesome. He's really patient with me and he makes me laugh and he treats me better than I've ever been treated. And I think he's pretty cute! All I want is Josh, a cute little house and a dog. Is that so much to ask for?! Haha... someday.
Well I miss you both! And I hope we can work out a time to visit soon. Mostly weekends are good for me. Except the July 24th weekend... I'm covering the parade here.
Oh! So I remember writing that I was going to post photos. Here ya go! My life in iPhone photos.

Oh! So I remember writing that I was going to post photos. Here ya go! My life in iPhone photos.
The view from work. I'm on the 7th floor and there's a HUGE balcony/patio.
Couple weekends ago floating the narrows, just north of Preston, ID.
Camping! From front to back, left to right this is Josh, me, Brad, Kaden, Stephanie, Bucky, Cody.
I dislike Stephanie A LOT. She's very controlling and insecure. And Kaden is Josh's best friend so it's hard to see him with her. Ugghhhh. Bucky looks weird in this pic, but he's one of my very best friends! I spent a lot of time with him last summer.
I don't know why, but this one just makes me laugh. Josh is cute.
Me and Kailee. She is Josh's little brother's girlfriend. Dustin and Kailee are probably my favorite people to hang out with in Logan.
Again! After we took these photos, we went on a canoe ride in this area. We actually camped here for a night. It's so awesome being right next to the river. I <3 font="" summer="">3>
And this one just makes me happy! Josh as a child. I'm pretty biased, but I think this is just the cutest picture!

Update here!
Hey ladies!
Bergen your baby is adorable and I know exactly what you are talking about missing the tiny baby you brought home. Talon is so big already! And yes, every time I see a pregnant lady (and they are everywhere!!) I feel like I need to be pregnant again. I need a tiny one again lol.
I am the living embodiment of a couch potato. Talon and I sleep...and sleep...and sleep. And when we aren't sleeping we are lounging around. I have been sick for the last week and have been using it as an excuse not to exercise and to eat anything I want to...yeah, cupcakes and pizza have been my diet this week...I"m horrible. Having a baby didn't ruin my body, I did that all on my own. I would love to have the body I had when we started this blog and were complaining about our bodies haha. But I am sick of hating myself so I need to be better too.
Umm...so ya not much new here. Danielle I am super proud that you made the front page! That is awesome!! You have been in SLC for a long time now and still haven't met my baby!! Come meet my baby!! and more importantly, come hang out with me!!
I miss social interaction and I need it!
Haha love you ladies!
